The White Water Tavern

The legendary White Water Tavern is definitely the most unique place to see a show in Little Rock.  We've seen some interesting acts play here, including some damn good ones (and some bad ones).  You never quite know what to expect when you show up.  Some pretty big names have traveled through.  Smoking is permitted and can create an ever-present haze on some nights.  Shows are generally $5-12

Rev Room

The sound varies night to night. Sometimes it's decent and other times I'm left wondering about who is in charge.  The atmosphere is that of a large club, so it can be rather odd when not many people are there. This venue definitely attracts some of the bigger names.  Most shows are $12-20.  Their food isn't too bad either.  Some nights they have karaoke on the back patio.  Smoking is only permitted outside.

Sticky Fingerz

Another great place to see bands in Little Rock. This place is a little smaller than Rev Room but is apparently owned by the same people.  It seems like Sticky Fingerz gets more folk, blues and alt country acts than Rev Room does.  They also seem to get big names, but the bands that play here are not usually as trendy. Smoking can get pretty heavy with a big crowd.  The food is great.  Shows are usually $8-20.

Juanita's

Another solid place to see bands play.  Recently, the booking has been top notch.  They offer pretty much any genre under the sun from "the self-proclaimed worst band in the world," Green Jelly,  to the beautiful indie/bluegrass stylings of Cadillac Sky.  They also have a propensity to do low dough shows and feature local talents.  The sound has been constantly great over the years I've gone there, and I'm glad to see great things are coming their way. There are plenty of tables and a large dance floor.  Smoking is only permitted on the back patio.  Shows range between $2-20

The Village

This unique venue is a converted movie theater with large dome roof and plenty of stadium seating.  They tend to host bands with a harder edge, but occasionally branch off into other genres.  If you can find a band you like, this is a great place to see live music.  In addition to the seating there's a large space in front of the stage if you prefer to stand.  It's easy to find.  Just go to the corner of Asher and South University, look for the dome, and you're there.

The Union

This is a handsome little venue with amazing tapas.  I highly recommend the hummus!  They are looking to book more shows in the coming future.  Shows start around 10pm and are free admission, but if you want a table, I highly recommend making a reservation.  It's open until 1:30 give or take, and is a rather interesting place. Smoking is allowed indoors, but it is surprisingly well ventilated so I could barely even tell there were smokers there.  21+

Vino's Brew Pub

Vino's is one of the truly all ages venues left in town.  Although it has gone through some drastically big changes over the years, it keeps on trucking to this day.  Shows start a bit earlier here due to its unconventional bar status, but sometimes that's quite alright.  It's one of the easiest and most easily recognizable venues to find located right in the middle of downtown.  Even though shows have been on and off in quality, one thing that holds strong is the quality of the pizza and their micro-brews.

Located on the corner of 7th & Chester.

The Town Pump

The Town Pump has recently come under new management, but the food has remained great.  A few changes occurred though, they built a small stage in the back of the bar and now offer live music about once a week, if not a couple times.  The do karaoke on Tuesdays, and the other nights are usually fair game for booking a show.  Shows range between $3-5 and are usually pretty packed.  There is almost always a drink special of some sort whether it's $2.50 well drinks or $2 jello shots.  It's a cozy little place, and I urge everyone to check it out at least once.
